Marriage Banns 28 Dec 1819 Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral)
Samuel Garside of this parish, miner
Maria Ledgard of this parish, spinster

Marriage image on Ancestry same date as Banns at Bradford St Peter
winesses John Barker, Jonas Tasker

Thank you it’s finding information on Samuel’s parents that is proving very tough but trying my best as I say I did a census search but the results were inconclusive sadly but I’ll keep at it.

From census age samuel born about 1798-9 at North Bierley

Thank you it’s just becoming a bit complex after this what I found was possibilities (about three - one may have been the same as the other) but one wasn’t near a particular location I think one was Bradford and the other I can’t recall just currently. Nevertheless on the entries I looked at there was a possibility it may have been James, Samuel’s father, but I wasn’t conclusive on this so I didn’t add it to the tree.

With the information I have received from kind people here, I am confident that the lineage from Joseph Garside to Samuel Garside is promising.

Have you looked into Nathan and Betty Garside and James and Sarah Garside who had children baptised 1865 the same time as George and Hannah - daughter Hannah at Bradford Chapelry.

They could be brothers or cousins

Pursuing the Garsides of Wisey, I have found a burial for a James s/o Nathan in Wibsey in 1797. So maybe the later Nathan, mentioned above, was part of the same family.

Possible for elderly Nathan in 1851
Piece   2304
Folio   272
Page number 4

B abt 1770, matches well with baptism in Wibsey s/o Stephen. Maybe James (Samuel's father) was Nathan's brother

Thank you I really appreciate this could James be Samuel’s father? When I did a search it was only a tentative name that I found which is why I didn’t add it to the tree - I do apologise as I am very new to this so I do apologise for my iginorance as I.m still very much learning.

Yes I think that Samuel's father might be James. Annoyingly mother wasn't recorded on baptism record. Tracing possibly siblings of Samuel and looking for marriage records might be useful in case Samuel was a witness somewhere. Unfortunately he marked his own marriage record with X so we won't have signatures to compare.
