 I suspect he signed up in 1915 but was not called forward for training until Feb 1916.  Once trained he was assigned to the infantry to fill up gaps left by casualties.

My grandfather's record was similar:

Attested - 18 November 1915
Transferred to Army Reserve - 19 November 1915
Rejoined on mobilisation - 22 March 1916
To France - 31 August 1916
Died in France - 7 October 1916
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
