Date of Attestation or Mobilisation

I wonder if anyone could help explain something? I have been researching my Great Uncle David Denoon and found his WW1 service record. It states that he enlisted on 8 December 1915 and was mobilised in the 2/2 Lovat Scouts on 22 February 1916. What is the difference between enlisting and being mobilised? And what will he have been doing between enlistment and mobilisation?

Mobilisation is when a man is sent on active service.
In this man's case it happened after his period of training.

The 2/2 Lovat Scouts did not leave the UK and were in East Anglia for most of the war.  If he was mobilised it suggests that he was sent as an individual reinforcement to the 1/2 Lovat Scouts who were in Egypt in 1916 and then in Salonika in 1917.

He transferred to the Camerons. 7th. then 6th. Gordons.

Probably the Derby Scheme ..... men were enlisted and put into categories but then waited at home until called for training.

Thank you all - we have a photo of Q Troop 2/2 Lovat Scouts which includes him. When serving with the Gordons, he won the Military Medal at Arras and was wounded twice. Having survived the War, Davie died of flu while serving in Germany in 1919. I was moved to see a specific refernce to his death and funeral in the War Diary - and again have photos of his funeral.

He's listed in the war diary casualty lists as being wounded on 9/4/17 but remained at his post.
