Leonora Lutgen
« on: Tuesday 06 January 26 20:42 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking to find out what became of Leonora. It's like she vanished into thin air. She was born 19Aug1888 in West Bend,Palo Alto,Iowa. The last known place she resided was in Dubuque,  Iowa in 1915. She had a Twin Brother Leo George Lutgen (1888-1981). Her Parents were Mathias Lutgen (1857-1915) & Rose Anne (McCloskey) Lutgen (1855-1931). The information I found was from Ancestry.  Any help would be much appreciated.

This might be a dead end, but do you know who Theresa Dumuth is? She is in the same household as Leonora in 1910 and is called the granddaughter of Mathias. Is she Leonora's daughter? Josephine's? or someone else's? If she is Leonora's child, does it help you find her?

1910 Census, Dubuque

Regarding the 1915 census. Is this the link you have to the record you are referring to:
https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/1084/records/9544325
The image says the person is male, married, and works as a plasterer.

other than that, I don't have much.

Finding her parents' and siblings' obituaries, if any, might provide some information about Leonora. You posted the parents' deaths, and findagrave for her parents gives dates of death for some of her siblings:

Thomas 1887
Anna 1897
Frank March 1972, buried Worth County, Iowa, d Mason City, Iowa
Edward 2 October 1945, buied Minneapolis
James Emmet 1975

Note: I realize you might know all this, but it will save others on the thread some time in looking for the obits.

Josephine was alive, age 43, and single in 1925

and in 1930, single, living with her brother James in Minneapolis

could this be her Social Security information? Probably not.

Do you have the family in 1900?

Leonora is not in that household with her mother, sister Josephine, and brother James. So maybe she married between 1910 and 1925. She's not with them in 1930 either.

Dubuque City Directories
for 1913
at 485 Locust
Mathias Lutgen, wife Rose
Leo
Josephine
James E
Edward

but no Leonora

So whatever "happened" to Leonora might have happened between the compilation of the 1911 Dubuque City Directory, in which she appears, and this 1913 issue where she does not appear.

here is the family in 1900 for your records. familysearch didn't attempt a transcription of the surname.

it says Lenora was born in September 1888
and Josephine in June 1880. so that possible Social Security hit I posted above is not her.
