Michael and Catherine Liston family Lisnagry
« on: Tuesday 06 January 26 03:00 GMT (UK) »
My Grandmother was Mary Ellen (Maria) Liston. Born 20 Aug 1876 in Athlacca, Co Limerick. She was the youngest of 12 children
Her parents were Michael Liston and Catherine Liston, married 14 Feb 1858, in Caherelly.  They moved from Caherelly to Lisnagry sometime after Mary was born.

Mary was a parlour maid working at Ashroe House for John Beatty Barrington for many years. She married John McCarthy in 1907 and had a son William.
In 1914 she left Ireland and her son and moved to Australia with David Fitzgibbon (from Mongfune, Murroe). I have no idea why she left, or anything about John McCarthy.
She and David Fitzgibbon both died abt. 1930 leaving two boys David 14 and Jack 12 as orphans near Warwick QLD.
I only have one photo of Mary with her son William in 1914.
I am hoping that these Listons may turn up on someone’s family tree. Any clues would be great. 😊

You already appear to have a lot of information, so perhaps be clearer about what you are looking for. This means we don’t waste time posting detail you already have.

You already have a thread here about the Liston family.

1911 census for 4 year old William McCarthy.
Recorded as a nephew, but possibly is with his grandparents.

William ended up emigrating to the USA.
