Elizabeth Waggott nee Campbell
« on: Monday 05 January 26 22:02 GMT (UK) »
Elizabeth Campbell married Edward Waggott in 1875, Morpeth district. They had a daughter, Dorothy Eleanor in 1876. Censuses state Elizabeth was born between 1852-56 at Swinburn, Northumberland.

I’ve a theory that she might’ve  been born Elizabeth Harrison on 15 Sep 1849 at Long Craig, Chollerton, daughter of Dorothy Harrison, single woman. Dorothy married James Campbell in 1853 (James died 1859).

1851 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGBB-X7N?lang=en&cid=fs_copy

1861 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7V8-RTJ?lang=en&cid=fs_copy

Then in 1871, Dorothy had an illegitimate daughter named Margaret Ann Campbell, who would be Elizabeth Harrison’s half-sister.

This same Margaret Ann Campbell appears in the 1881 household with Elizabeth Waggott & her family. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2WM-HVPG?lang=en&cid=fs_copy

I’m going to order the marriage cert to see what it says for her father but would like to find Elizabeth’s whereabouts in 1871 / rule out any other possible Elizabeth Campbells.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you  :)

Where did you get Dorothy from?  She is Eleanor on the 1881 census

She married William Lauder in 1904 as Dorothy E Waggoth and had two children, James Edward Douglass (1907) & Tom Hall (1909)

James is in the 1911 census at Mitford with Edward & Elizabeth as their grandson

CAMPBELL, MARGARET  ANN  -  GRO Reference: 1871  S Quarter

Born after the census but might be worth getting to see where she was born, who registered the birth.

I have Margaret Ann’s birth which states she was born 14 July 1871 at High Callerton to Dorothy Campbell, single woman

Her being Dorothy’s daughter and in the 1881 / 1911 census with Elizabeth Waggott made me suspect a link to Elizabeth Harrison
