Yes, there will be a great deal of tidying up to be done now. The house looks so bare without the Christmas decorations, doesn't it?  :(

Keep safe and warm, everyone. :-*

Looks really bare and just when you think you have swept up every shred of tinsel another piece appears!

I made jam tarts with the spare pastry and they were nicer than the mince pies.

Yes, the house does look bare..
I miss the lights from the tree in the corner of our lounge and the LED lights I have wound up the banister.. hey ho..
I’m sure this year will evaporate just like last year.. why is it the older you get the faster they go?
Still have our son and wife visiting in March so something to look forward to.. not seen him for 6 yrs!!
Then hoping my brother (half) and wife will be over in April…
can’t thank whiteout7 enough for finding him 11 years ago for me when I couldn’t..
it’s been great to establish a relationship in our latter years..
good old RC, so many wonderful knowledgeable people on here.
I shall be eternally thankful.

I miss the lights up the stairs too, thinking of getting a strip to fix along the bannisters permanently.

The snow has thawed a lot today although it's still been bitterly cold. It's raining now and forecast tomorrow morning too, no sub zero temperatures in the forecast tomorrow so hopefully the road and pavements won't freeze, they'll be like a skating rink if they do. Seems there's still a lot of snow over the west side of England and in Wales and pretty bad in Europe too. Also reports of a forthcoming storm, whatever next! I suppose it's to be expected in winter.

How wonderful to have your son visiting Caroline, I bet you'll be crying buckets when you see him! And then your half brother too, it's going to be a very emotional time for you.  :)

Why do we still have the Santa emojis, should have been taken down with the Christmas decorations!

Hello All

I hope you are keeping well, or getting better (delete whichever is applicable). Do you remember Forms like that?

I feel like this Winter has been a bit tough, so nice to see the Sun and so glad to get beyond December and looking forward to a nice Spring.

I am going to try the:-  Tai Chi For Beginners in the next few days.

I suppose they make the money from the amount of views, likes and comments and advertising.

The movements suggest it looks like it would be good for inflammatory conditions too, because many movements are covered and the way it is done draws the energy in and then away with the arms and there are breathing exercises as you go.

My inflammation is back in my right forearm, with numbness toward wrist (cleared at moment) and a rash trying to clear and my right knee needs a Sports support bandage for a short time when out walking, it usually clears in a few days.

So there is movement, relaxation and a psychology to it as well in Tai Chi. Nothing strenuous like a gym.

This evening though, a nice shower and an earlier night and dream of the Bounty advert on the 'Island of Paradise' (and being the only man there) came into my mind today for some odd reason.

The only thing is, knowing my luck a coconut will drop off a palm and just miss my edd with a thud in the sand in my dream!

Like this morning I was in dream sleep (can't remember what) and a single thud on the front door ... I shot upright and thought oh Sainsburys! ... No, not an expletive, a delivery, so I was at the door in my Boxer Shorts, my bed top and a hastily grabbed sleeveless waistcoat fleece zipped it up.

I opened the Front door with the Hall light on and said I hope you have not been here long and he said with a chuckle only 59 minutes ... really? I enquired. He replied, not really - just arrived and we had a quick laugh.

Sainsburys didn't have to send a man dressed like Shackleton the Polar explorer, but it was extremely cold as the house warmth started a reaction with the severe cold and frost from outside.

Only one Rump steak, I ordered 5? As I counted the salmon and meats (Substituted for 1, so there is a shortage).

Probably send UK into panic buying now.

He said ... you ain't going to starve are you and I replied no, I don't think so, with a smile and then thought of some of the unfortunate who would be pleased to receive this.

Yesterday was Vit D day, out for a walk in the midday Sun.

Mark

Thank you dear friends ( Roobarb & LM ) for your kind words, yes we’re really looking forward to seeing him..
think he’ll see more of a change in us than we him! Of course we FaceTime but not the same as putting your arms around a human!

Although they said it would be very cold last night it didn’t seem to be and strangely enough the outside temp this morning -.08 was warmer than yesterday -2 but the house was colder 🤷‍♀️ not sure how that works! The snow has all slid off our conservatory roof too.

Think we might be in for some bad weather on Thursday/ Friday though.

Tesco came this afternoon with a shipping load to save me going out..
I can’t believe I had no missing items or subs.. especially when I’d got all the ingredients to make a Thai Green Curry as there’s usually something vital missing

I did have to laugh Mark at your attire when opening the door to Sainsbury’s this morning.. I’ll bet the drivers seen far worse sights though 😂😂.

Stay warm all

It will be lovely having distant family living distantly to visit Caroline, my sis in Brisbane is coming over here in March  ::) She had said when we went over in February for her 80th that she wasn't keen on much international travel now and her children are also settled in Australia, it's particularly the airports but she has enjoyed visiting various countries including her most recent to India in 2024, also lived for a while in Canada before marriage.

Expecting eldest daughter back this weekend, quick visit from the north to celebrate her goddaughter's 21st birthday which was on the 2nd last weekend but having a get-together on her late maternal grandmother's birthday and a small gathering, an only child of an only child and not really a party person. We had a full house when daughter came down with her 3 girls late Christmas Day to New Year's Eve, often something gets left behind despite her trying to be as organised as possible! Last minute scramble to locate an inhaler which was accidentally put away in the bag the girls' costumes for the highland games were in when they were set out for the day, also a hunt for hairbrush 11yr old couldn't find ...'always puts it back in bag'  ... but no, found in car from trip 2 days prior  ... kids!
Anyway, only found something small of theirs after they'd gone, cold drink for trip not left in fridge etc ... then when I went to wash the stripped bedding piled up on one bed, a kit containing daughter's washing overlooked by all!

Luckily good days for getting washing done and walks etc ... but no thanks all, I don't want to keep any warmer  ;)  26C this afternoon and bearable enough, we do have air con but I like a through breeze in preference mostly.

A contrast to your walk Mark, a nearby street on my circuit this morning before heat got up a bit ...

... ps, I've noted I was a whole year behind in dating pic! 2026 not 2025  :) won't be the first time I have to correct myself I expect  :) ...
