Yes
Her father is down as John Williams house painter.
However her step father was Samuel Williams  a coach smith 1837- June 1877
And it is John Sellwood who is a house painter.

I've dug a bit deeper through John Sellwood marriages from 1844-1862 for the first wife.
There is a John Sellwood ag lab born 1831 Tilegurst Berks
Marries firstly Pheobe Fuller June 1852 Bradfield Oxfordshire ,Berks .Pheobe dies Sep 1855 and
John remarries Mary Ann Oliver at Reading Mar 1859

Neither marriage seems to be available on line to find his father's details are Benjamin Sellwood.

1871 census Tilehurst Berks
John Sellwood  42 ag lab Theale
Mary 45 worker paper mill Kelston?
Elizabeth 17 Tilehurst
William 13 Theale
George 7 Theale.

Not spotting family together after that bur really picking at straws.

Baptism 17 Jan 1830 for that one with father Thomas Selwood mother Sarah

With parents in 1841/1851 so no Benjamin there I’m afraid

Even if John can't be found before the marriage to Ann, there ought to be a death record for him.

Her father is down as John Williams house painter.
However her step father was Samuel Williams  a coach smith 1837- June 1877
And it is John Sellwood who is a house painter.

Cidey, I don't understand this. John Sellwood was Agnes's father.
Samuel Williams died three years before she was born.

Good morning
Yes there is no reason for her to use the surname Williams when she married.
She quite clearly signs her name Agnes Williams and her father is given as John Williams not just John .
Her baptism does give her date of birth which matches with the 1939 index so it is her.
Just don't know what's going on.
But Good News the Family History Drop in when was cancelled because of the bad weather so I've got another week to have a go at it.
So I've made it through the Snow this morning ,Library is open and everything is go .

Now checked all the marriages for John Sellwood ,still got John Selwood to do.

Could Benjamin have been a “father figure” a step father or a grandfather even?

If the Benjamin we did find had more children we could investigate those but long shot.

1841 Benjamin has a wife Jane.
Daughter Martha 2 has birth reg with MMN Hearn

Marriage 2 July 1835
Benjamin to Jane Herne

Which is after the birth of John in case Jane was his mother.

All young children and Benjamin is 50 so he likely had older children who could have fathered John.

I can't find him before his marriage or after 1891.

Can you find his wife and daughter after 1891?

There's a William Henry Sellwood full age marrying in Mere Wilts in 1866 with a father Benjamin - yeoman
Witnesses John Mitchell Mary Mitchell

His parents were Benjamin Sellwood and Jane Hearn/Herne who married in East Ilsley, Berkshire 2nd July 1835 - Benjamin was a Bachelor
