James Heron RSA help please
« on: Friday 02 January 26 15:20 GMT (UK) »
I am researching James Heron artist. I located his birth certificate and he was born 27th June 1847 in the Parish of St Cuthberts Edinburgh.  Parents William Heron and Mary Brown.  I am unable to find his death certificate on SP and he may have died circa 1919.  I believe he always lived in Edinburgh and he may have been unmarried,  I have him on a census in 1891 age 44 living with his sister Clara at 64 Frederick Street.  In 1901 he is living at 1 Warrender Park Terrace with his brother Colin and a sister called Martha.  He painted lots of Scottish landscapes.
I am struggling to find death certificate for him. I welcome any help.

Got the death certificate, thanks.  Interesting to have details of the will.   Where did you access it as I have long been looking for a will for another ancestor with no luck.

Can you confirm the sum of money in the will please.

Scotland  National Probate Index ( Confirmations and Inventories ) on Ancestry
Value of estate is £499.1 shilling and 11 pence

Not seeing anything on S P
You could try Registers of Scotland

From the Dictionary of British Artists 1880 - 1940.

HERON James. Exhibited 1880 - 1919.
Abode Edinburgh. Deceased.
Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts = 7 works.
Royal Scottish Academy = 105 works.

Not a big entry, from a commercial point of view. I wouldn't imagine any of his works making a fortune.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.
