Victorian marriage - Thomas HARRESON & Mary Jane Young TROTTER
« on: Wednesday 31 December 25 00:17 GMT (UK) »
I am building trees from many matches trying to identify my Great Grandfather. So at this stage I can't afford to buy every certificate. I have found this couple whose tree I want to investigate (his real surname is HARRISON) at their marriage in August 1874 (3341/1874), but his parents' names aren't in the online records.

I've read the post on Lookups and copyright, so I'm wondering if it is OK to ask if someone has the certificate and can tell me his parents' names please? If this isn't allowed, please tell me and I'll trash this post. Thanks.

Your previous thread.
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=766213.msg7701424#msg7701424
which includes the information that Mary Jane TROTTER married Thomas HARRISON and the subsequent events of her life.

I would say it is time to see the marriage certificate of this couple if you wish to know more about HARRISON. You will have trouble establishing his death without his parents' names.

Also the birth certificates of the child Annie.

I sympathise with the ongoing cost of certificate purchase, but where an immediate forebear is involved, it's essential really.

Thanks Sue. The thing is, he isn't an immediate forebear, but the ancestor of a match. I believe the match and I are linked through my mystery Great Grandfather, but that link could be via a dozen family lines on the match's side. I could probably buy a dozen certificates and find none of them helpful, so I'm trying to do as much as I can until I find the link, and then I can focus.

Nevertheless, you are probably correct, but I thought posting here was worth a try.

Right.
I misunderstood your opening sentence and thought the Thomas HARRISON was your G grandfather.
