I have the 1860s/90s Royal Navy record of an ancestor. On it there is the occasional abbreviation QDD usually in the column after the ship name entry.
Also written in at the end in large letters it say "D.D 17 February 1895 (Congestion of the Lungs)" I'm guessing the Latter may refer to Date of death, but i'd be grateful if this could be confirmed and also what QDD means.
