eilthireach,

Thanks, I am sure that is what I typed originally, now corrected.
   Pesky AI.

Westee, you are welcome, not that I am aware of my Nicolls are Angus folk, though I have Nicol, relatives of Deeside.

I just googled Elrick House.  I'll certainly be visiting if I ever get back to Scotland and perhaps have a wee dram in salute to my ancestors.  Fabulous house.  Lovely website.
Another great find tks to everyone's help.

A query regarding a James Nicol's marriage in 1803.

Says he was a "Baillie in Inveraray" - married to an Isabel Anderson in the parish of Keith Hall, Inverurie.

Has 'Inveraray' been written by mistake?  I'll post the Parish Register.

Any help, thanks very much.

Looks like Inverury, which I think is an old spelling of Inverurie
Fraser - Inverness-shire, Moray
Gammie - Banffshire
Davidson - Aberdeenshire
Hay, Innes, Taylor, Shand - Moray
Mitchell, Ross, Skinner, Duff - Ross-shire
MacKenzie - Ross-shire/ Lothians
Young - Stirling
Patience, MacPherson, Smith, Davidson - Inverness-shire

I agree. It's quite a common alternative spelling of Inverurie.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Can anyone find a death registration for a Janet Wynd b. 1758, 10th May.    Last child born in 1801 (Robert).  She was married to a Robert Wynd in 1778 in Perthshire.  Large family.
I did find a possible date of death in 1826 but because I don't know the area(s) very well; it takes ages to figure out if I am within the right zone/area.
