Richard Hearn - Manchester/Liverpool
« on: Friday 26 December 25 16:37 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon I hope everyone had a nice Christmas day  :),

Today I have been checking my family tree and have discovered two more additional names to the tree.

My great grandfather was a theatre manager and travelled between the Birmingham area and then took up a position in Manchester and Liverpool.  He would commute between both cities and eventually took over a theatre in Liverpool and eventually lived in the Liverpool area.

My great grandfather and great grandmothers details are:

Henry John Hearn  + Sarah Ann Hearn Nee King
DOB: 26 June 1860   DOB: 10 June 1864
Hackney, London       Pencoyd, Herefordshire
Died: 27 Nov 1940    Died: 30 May 1927
Liverpool                  Liverpool

They had 6 children:  Albert John Hearn, Harold Hughes Hearn, Sidney Thomas Hearn, Frederick Arthur Hearn, Cyril Arthur Hearn & Richard Hearn.

The two people I uncovered today were Frederick Arthur Hearn 1901-1902, born in Manchester and died in Manchester.  The second person was Richard Hearn, and I cannot find any information regarding him.  I wonder if anyone can assist or point me in the right direction.

Albert & Harold born in Birmingham, Sidney born Pencoyd, Hereford and my grandad Cyril was born in Liverpool.

I have searched, for Richard, I also suspect he had a middle name, on the free BMD site & no joy.

Kind Regards
Keith

Their marriage was 1883 in London - Kensington

GRO online shows a number of children born in the London area 1883- 1891 surname Hearn with mmn King which you may want to check. Some may have died

They had twins James & Benjamin George in 1884.  I made it 9 children 1883-1891 - 3 boys & 6 girls

Where have you come across Richard?
I can see four trees all of which mention him but none of which have any record at all.

Hi everyone,

I admit I am using Ancestry uk database to fill in my tree and today Richard’s name has appeared as a hint, but there is no other data/documents to substantiate his details.

Ancestry hints are just that - hints.  They are not facts.  The first birth of that name in Lancashire on freebmd is over 60yrs after the 1883 marriage

CaroleW,

I have obviously learnt a lesson there.

Thanks, and no wonder I haven’t been able to find an entry for Richard’s birth.

I always back BDM with a certificate hence why I needed to find his birth entry.

I recognise Hearn as a traveller name. The different birth locations suggest they were moving around, which I would expect with entertainers. Maybe travellers before entertainers. On www.romaheritage.co.uk/parish-records there are 28 Hearn records from 1670 to 1871. There are also 3 newspaper records, though all are earlier than te information you are presently considering.
