Florence Minnie and Alice Isabel FORD
« on: Tuesday 23 December 25 19:33 GMT (UK) »
I have found their birth records on Victoria BDM but that's it, no marriage or death records in Victoria, SA, NSW, WA (as far as I know).

Family name - FORD; Given name(s) - Florence Minnie;
Event - Birth;
Mother's name - Mary Sarah;
Mother's family name at birth - HOMAN;
Father's name - James;
Place of birth - Spri(ng Creek);
Reg. year - 1870;
Reg. number - 19559/1870.

Family name - FORD; Given name(s) - Alice Isabel;
Event - Birth;
Mother's name - Mary Sarah;
Mother's family name at birth - HORNAN (sic);
Father's name - James;
Place of birth - Smea (Smeaton);
Reg. year - 1872; Reg. number - 5337/1872.

Their parents were James FORD and Mary Sarah HOMAN. They had 10 children.

James died after a horrible assault in Thebarton, SA in June 1880 where he had gone (Stockport) to attend the funeral of his namesake father in April (many articles on Trove).

Mary Sarah was pregnant (the newspapers mentioned her and their 9 children living in Melbourne) of Arthur Edwin (b. 1881), who killed himself in 1934 in Mildura (articles on Trove).

She married again, although I can't find her marriage record, to David LOBB, who had become a widower in 1881 (first marriage to Mary Ann ELLIS in 1864 in SA).They had one daughter, Evelyn May, in 1885.

The places associated with the FORD family are mainly in western Victoria (Mount Bolton, Spring Creek, Beechworth, Waubra, Smeaton, Glengower, Glendaruel, Clunes, St Arnaud and Ballarat) and later on (death records) around Melbourne (Boroondara, Essendon) and Williamstown, where their brother Walter James FORD died in 1951.

Walter was the husband of Mary Georgina Louisa FORD nee STRATFORD (1875-1953), which is the family I'm interested in, particularly her sister Alice ROBERTSON nee STRATFORD (c. 1896-1980), no known birth record, marriage and death records say she was the daughter of Charles Alexander STRATFORD and Wilhelmina Louisa REITHER, but Charles Alexander died in 1892. Some sources say Alice was born in St Arnaud where all the children of the couple was born but one source (her daughter's birth record) says she was born in Fitzroy.

I thought Alice could be Mary Georgina Louisa's out of the wedlock daughter, but there is no history of the name Alice in the family.

While looking at her husband's family (Walter James FORD), I've noticed that his sister Edith Lydia FORD had a daughter before her marriage, Alice Maud(e) FORD. Her birth record says she was born in 1896 (Ballarat Lying In Hospital)  and death record says she died in 1896 aged 5 (Ballarat East). It should be 5 months, I suppose? I was hoping that she could have been 'my Alice but alas.

Now I'd like to know more about Walter's other sisters (the subject of this post) Alice Isabel b. 1872 and Florence Minnie, b. 1870.

Any help or tips greatly appreciated.
