What happened to the Johnson family?
« on: Tuesday 23 December 25 10:00 GMT (UK) »
After 1871 this family seems to have disappeared.
Emma Williams born 1833(c) Olveston Gloucestershire, parents George and Amelia Williams. In 1863 Emma marries Edward Johnson on the 29th January  at Clifton Christchurch Bristol. I have a copy of the marriage certificate naming George as the father who is a butcher which is correct. Both Emma and Edward where single.
The couple appear to have 3 children;
Sarah b 1856 at Westerleigh (born before the marriage so surname could be Williams)
Frederick b 1862 at Frampton Cotterell
John b 1865 at Frampton Cotterell
In the 1871 census Emma is a widow.
I can find no information on the father Edward apart from the marriage, showing his father is also called Edward and is a shipwright
There is a death for a Emma Johnson in 1899 but not sure if correct. Her death was registered at Chipping Sodbury.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are researching Emma WILLIAMS  - no - she did not marry Mark Johnson.  That Emma was Emma WALTER(s)

As I said above - you have quoted the wrong 1871 entry

 When Agnes Eliza Louise Johnson marries, her Father is Edward - ships carpenter.
 A witness is Rose Francis Johnson ( Spelt with i).
  She appears as daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Johnson on 1881 census as a new born.
 Older siblings appear to be James W age 5 and Rachel K age 3 .
 Father Edward has remarried as a widower in 1871 to Elizabeth Lavis a spinster. He lists himself as a ships carpenter.
  So looking for a death for Emma before 1871.
