William Caleb Peel Hart born 1st October 1861 Stowupland
« on: Sunday 21 December 25 11:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Not really sure where to post this but thought I'd start with Suffolk!

I'm trying to locate what happened to William Caleb Peel Hart after the 1871 census and bar a marriage taking place in Liverpool on 12th July 1909 he then can't be traced on the 1911 census either before he finally appears on the 1921 census, before his death in 1925.

William was born in Stowupland, Suffolk in 1861 with his parents Elijah (d1879) and Lydia (d1890).

As mentioned above I am unable to find him anywhere on the 1881, 1891, 1901 or 1911 census records.

In addition his marriage record states he was aged 30 when he was really aged 48  ;D and on the 1921 census he has stated he was born in Queensland, Australia and was aged 50 when he would be aged nearly 60!  He was living at 68 Back St Anne Street in Birkenhead, Cheshire.

Lastly his death record has him dying early in 1925 aged 51 when again he should be aged 63.

Literally anything in regards to finding him on any census's or any other finds for him would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Phil

Florence Ferrie was b 1880 so William was 19yrs older than her.  His occupation is shown as Wheelwright on the 1909 marriage cert.  As he knocked 10yrs off his age when he married - that could account for the discrepancy in later ages.

Sons William & Oliver b 1910 & 1911.  Daughters Annie & Minnie 1913 & 1915

The 1925 death is just William Hart whereas he uses his full christian names when he married.  Who reported his death?

Hi All

Thanks for those bits - I meant to say that all his children I already know about etc.
He died at the Birkenhead workhouse in January 1925 with Florence listed as a next of kin so definitely him even though no mention of his middle names.

All I want to discover is his whereabouts between after the 1871 census and before he married in 1909 - and ideally where he was on the 1911 census

Thanks

Are those baptism addresses the same as the birth addresses?
Have you searched those addresses in 1911?

Given the reference to Queensland, it is possible he had been there during part of the missing period, although he had returned before his marriage 1909.  Or had he been working on ships?  Does it explain the move from Suffolk to Liverpool?  He may have learned the wheelwright's trade from his father, then reverted to it in later life.

I have been thinking the same, Molly. I haven’t found any records though yet.
