What happened to John and Elizabeth?

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is well.

Lately I have been revisiting my paternal grandfather's tree (Hall) and I have come back to my 3x great grandfather's older brother once again, and hoping that turning here we might be able to solve what happened to John and Elizabeth.

What i know: John Hall was born in 1839, South Shields, to John (Master Mariner) and Ann. He was last recorded at home with his parents in 1861 as a Mariner at Cornwallis Square. He was a widower. (I have not found out who he married first). The next census, which I believe is him, he lives at Cornwallis Street as a Mariner with his wife Elizabeth A. who was born Waterford, Ireland. I cannot find a marriage though...

Then I hit a brick wall.

I would appreciate any help in finding out what happened to them.

IF the marriage took place in Ireland:
Civil registration of marriages began in 1864 for Catholic marriages and 1845 non-Catholic marriages (including registry office).

If there were any children born in England you should be able to find Elizabeth's maiden name from the GRO birth index-

Yes you are correct. Storey Hall and his wife Jane Dickinson (my 3x great grandparents) are the parents of James Falconer born 1861.

If the bride is listed as merely Elizabeth, a nickname for Elizabeth (such as Eliza, Betty, etc.) or even by her middle name so the above three are not the only possibilities.
