Morning all
Said I would be here to begin the week.

I expect most people are busy this week  I am going to pace myself out after having  such a busy week last week.

Really nice Carol service  last night, one of the Rev's said the church was packed,  so many new faces which is nice,  it is only a village but we had a lot from outside, pays to leaflet  the area.

Enjoy your week folks

Pouring down heavily with rain this morning and forecast to do the same tomorrow, but it's fairly warm with it.  With a nasty cold which has prevented me from taking part in various events in the village over the last week I am staying at home and keeping away from other people.  Don't want to spoil their Christmas! Last week I was sitting next to a woman at choir practice who told me that she was just recovering from a nasty cold.  Two days later I started with the usual symptoms of a sore throat, which developed into a cold over the next few days.  I can only think it came from her. :(

But hey, I'm already organised for Christmas.  Puddings and cake were made months ago, mince pies last week.  Our Christmas dinner will be held at my daughter's, so no worries about the bird and accompaniments.  Cards have been written and sent and presents are just waiting to be wrapped.  Even my library books are booked out till January.  The decorations are up. Just need to polish the brass and copper pieces to reflect the lights.  My husband has managed to source some LED tealights on the net (from China, of course ::)) - couldn't find any in the shops, so I suppose they had already been snapped up.

Merry Christmas, everyone  :D

A cold very dark, very wet day today.
Spent hours on the phone booking transport to Heart  Failure clinic .but it is so good to have it ,there is hardly any parking for cars due  to extensive building work ,heavy plant stuff .How staff manage I don’t know .

Will do apple sauce today and freeze it ,in two batches ,so one for New Year .
If I am doing that however will be a gammon joint with good old 1960’s pineapple !

All windows now done - just the rest of the house !  ::)

Son’s bed changed ,not back until  weekend .

Hope all are alright, given quite a few are elderly and thus with the problems commensurate with age! ( That is my big word for this week.)
Next week ‘s could be  antidisestablishmentarianism !
I think that is the longest word in the Oxford English Dictionary!
I hardly ever use it these days!  ::)

Well must crack on folks - you do delay me with your interesting snippets !
I am so curious I can’t wait to read them all.
Cheerio for now. Viktoria.

Can’t believe it’s just over a week until Christmas… where has the time gone!
Recovered now from our Christmas Fayre and trips to London… we made just over £1000 for our charity.. I would have liked a bit more but in these economic time that’s pretty good.
Started off nice and sunny this morning, bit of a nip in the air but now clouding over of course as I’m out at my book club this afternoon.
Cards posted, hand delivered so pleased with that..
Yesterday afternoon I spent wrapping family gifts.. I don’t use wrapping paper I’ve made Christmas fabric squares of various sizes with button and ribbon on opposite sides so gifts are folded into fabric and ribbon tied round.. I get them back so reusable and no paper wastage or piles of it to stuff into black bags.

I made my daughter a hamper with all manner of useful kitchen bits + t towels, home made chocs, chutney, and rapeseed oil that comes from a farm in the village..a bit different so hope she likes it 🤞.

House all decorated .. I love all the little LED twinkly lights you get these days too..
Just need family to be healthy.. all suffering from colds so 🤞they’ll be fine next week.. eldest grandson just had intensive exams and studied hard so bit run down I think.. thankfully they’ve all had flu jabs.

Sorry to hear others unwell… such a shame to miss out on fun and enjoyable events at this time of year.. hope all will be better by next week.
Our Carol service is this coming weekend but going to miss it as other plans got in the way.. pity as we have a new vicar who seems a nice chap…
He even turned up at our Christmas Fayre which has got to be a first in the 38 years we’ve lived in the village. Trouble is these days they have split their time between about four parishes so can’t be easy.
Well must away .. take care and enjoy the cooking, decorating and all that Christmas entails.

Saw the orthopaedic surgeon this morning. Yes my right hip does need "doing"- but between 8 and 12 months waiting list so I guess I shall have to hang in there. Interestingly it was the same chap who did my left knee back in 2011. rj

Sadly RJ,  that is the way it is going, I had my hip replaced 19 years ago,  as I was deemed young it was " not cemented" they do say they possibly don't last more than 10 years,  proved them wrong but that might be an average, not putting my hand or hip up for another one unless I need it.

You folks are so organised, apart from cleaning the upstairs curtains and windows plus my large lounge front I have come to a halt, I was so busy last week, was hoping for a quieter week this week.

I saw in a large department shop last week a beautiful tin of biscuits,  stupidly didn't buy it then as I had to travel by bus, had a look in my nearest one and asked an assistant, no, they didn't have them, I suspect because it was such a big store she might not have known, rang the shop today, the hint was I needed to book and order, I don't want a shop on line from this particular shop,  so I will have to look elsewhere I suppose for something similar, sometimes I think it is never easy.

When I worked full time and had 8  to stay for  Christmas  I was well and truly organised, my organisation in  the house has gone to pot, thankfully I am not catering for 8 this year.

Our church again had this good idea to make a donation and not to send cards, I did that but still I am receiving  cards, after Christmas so many go into recycling it is a waste, so now I have to reciprocate,  grrrr!!

Apart from church activities  it doesn't feel like Christmas at all.

Don't work to hard folks.

I seem to be leaving sooooo much to the eleventh hour!
I do miss having my front parlour ,I could thoroughly “ bottom “ , that, close the door and a quick “tickle “ on Christmas Eve  and all O.K .
But now we live in the front room , so every day stuff on view up to the last minute!- so every day a good tidy!
Never mind, I tell myself, thousands would love to have my modest home especially those in danger zones, the homeless and people truly poor.

Well lots done today ,just ironed son’s bedding .
His bed remade this morning, back from Head Office at weekend.
Can close the door, now, I am doing no more in there.

Watched Laurence Olivier in Richard III ———I never  liked  his
“ strangulated“  voice. I was busy but could see and hear it.
Poor Richard, he seems the most likely candidate responsible for Edward IV’s sons’ disappearance , pity now we have his remains that the bones in Westminster Abbey, found in The Tower, believed to be those of the young Princes  can not be compared , but The Queen said the urn must never be opened .
Daughter just phoned, son having a whale of a time with Luca and Kyra ,and baby Lily— she was a bit reticent but he got her shrieking with laughter .
He always gets down to children’s level.

Well I phoned our Doctor’s today re an appointment ,would the Drs be on strike,———Well the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about ,———-?
I wasn’t sure if only Drs in Hospitals were involved in the pending strike .

Cheerio folks. Hope all are doing well.
Congrats to those who have given time and effort to their Church’s good causes ,good results folks.

A cup of tea and “ Once more unto the breech dear friends ! “ Agincourt , Prince Hal?

Look after yourselves , and thanks for the news , you are really hard workers, and give your time to many needy causes.
Cheerio. Viktoria.

Good to read there has been some contact with KG and that some are on target with the festive preps, not so good re the seasonal ails and painful mobility issues with hopefully some reprieve  * relief asap.
I've become rather familiar with our drs clinic this past week and perhaps I'm also becoming more recognisable to our doctor as he'd only seen me the once prior for an introductory appointment. He's just popping into the nurses station to check each visit that all is OK and he removed sutures in ankle/heel wound yesterday and another look tomorrow. All visits ACC covered ( as accident ) so doesn't hurt the pocket and thankfully it has been comfortable for getting out and about with backless shoes ... just waiting to be able to immerse foot in the water again  :)

We have tickets for the matinee session of a Christmas production up north on Saturday, shows start Thursday night this week and started to sell out early. Our 3 year old granddaughter is the youngest cast member but also has her 2 older sisters and parents on stage as well and there have been rehearsals for a few months now, daughter is understudy for about 5 parts so hopefully all will be well!  Their previous shows have been very well performed and they've enjoyed participation under the direction of the couple who bring them together so well.

* I was rushing a bit to get dinner prep done .. some ailments do seem a bit punishing! ... liked your use of weekly words Viktoria  ;)

An update from me.
Ended up having 3 procedures on my bladder stones!
So in hospital all of October.
Before all that I collapsed at home, which was blamed on a UTI.

Meanwhile laptop crashed, so now having to use phone.
Also various logins turned off due to inactivity!
Gradually getting things fixed..
