Little familytree
« on: Friday 12 December 25 10:57 GMT (UK) »
I have been doing my Little family tree i have hit a real curve ball not sure about anyone being able to help.I have William  Little married to Isabella Thomson they lived in Canonbie they had son John 1891-1926 Anne 1893-1895 Alexander 1895-1966 William 1897-1935 Thomas 1901-1985 Henry 1907-1907 John married Mary Robinson and they lived in Longtown i have the 1921 census for them.I have got a copy of  Johns death certificate from the GRO website he died in an isolation hospital in Longtown in 1926 i also obtained a copy of Williams death certificate  he died in the Cumberland infirmary in 1935 and it has says he lived at Canonbiemoor. so all that information  is correct but here is something i cant figure out it says J Little brother was in attendance and this J little lived at Holmehead Gretna. It Cant have been John because he was already deceased.I have even tried on Scotlands  people to see if Isabella might have had another son with that initial but found nothing.its so frustrating not being able to solve a mystry. Can you post a clip?

Is it possible it is  not a ‘J’. Perhaps a ‘T’ for Thomas?

Hi i know its not Thomas who registered the death the initial  looks nothing like a T but i also know that Thomas never lived at Gretna he was born at Canonbiemoor and lived there until his death in 1985 i know i might not ever be able to find who it is.the only way will be if someone else were doing the same family.Thankyou for replying to my post.Margaret 55

its not possible to be a brother in law there was only one girl among the brothers and she died when she was two years old.If the person who was in attendant had lived in Canonbie i would have assumed it could have been Thomas and the registrar had just  got the name wrong.Thomas was my mothers Uncle and as a child i grew up knowing him and no one in the family ever mentioned another brother. I think its just going to be one of lifes mystries but its annoying when there is not going to be an answer. Margaret 55

i also obtained a copy of Williams death certificate  he died in the Cumberland infirmary in 1935 and it has says he lived at Canonbiemoor. so all that information  is correct but here is something i cant figure out it says J Little brother was in attendance and this J little lived at Holmehead Gretna.

Have you looked at Holmehead, Gretna on the 1939 register for any 'Little' mentions

i tried looking at the 1939 register for Gretna there were some littles on the register but no one in Holmehead i have even tried to find Holmehead on the Internet but all i can find is a hotel called Holmehead not a place. I have even tried to find possible deaths of a J little round about that time because if the were from Scotland i would be able to see who the parents were and maybe find the answer.Margaret 55

There is a place called Holmhead, Gretna, Dumfries and Galloway. There is a stone circle there apparently.
