Baptism of James Fletcher, born 1855 in Ardwick, Manchester
« on: Tuesday 09 December 25 23:19 GMT (UK) »
James was born to James and Mary Ann (nee Woods) Fletcher and was probably baptised in a Roman Catholic church.  His parents were married in 1849 at Saint Augustine's Catholic Chapel, Manchester.
I'm looking for an image of his baptism register entry, if there is one on-line.  Can anyone trace it or suggest where I might find it please?  I've tried Ancestry, FindmyPast etc.
Many thanks
Mel

https://mlfhs.uk/databases/catholic-records/register-index

With this site, you can often cross reference names of parents/sponsors in the indexes.
https://mlfhs.uk/databases/catholic-records

There is a baptism of James Fletcher 1855, at St Augustine’s.
There does not seem to be any parents indexed so it may not be the right James.
You would need to go back to the records posted by mckha489 re access.

There is a baptism for Charlotte in 1860 at Saint Edmunds, Bolton. Ancestry has some Catholic records.

Thank you everyone.  I've now got the information available, which is a transcript of the baptism record, unfortunately without parents' names, but pretty sure it's the correct one.
mckha489 and heywood thanks for the link.  I looked at the Lancashire Archives site and confirmed that they don't have the original registers for 1855.
Much appreciated.

Thank you for letting us know.
The Manchester Catholic records, as I said, can be useful as they often show parents and sponsors  in the index and sometimes that’s just enough.

Index, not transcript
"The registers of baptisms between 1826 and 1855 were lost but not before an index had been created of the names and dates for children baptised 1838-1855."
