Arthur George Sorrell 1881

Hoping someone can help track Arthur down.

He was born in Gt Waltham bpt 6 Mar 1881 son of John Sorrell & Mary Ann. On the 1901CR as George?  They didn’t as far as I know they did not have a George so pretty sure this was Arthur George 1881.  I then sort of lose him.

There’s a George Sorrell at Gt Leigh’s in 1911 age 30  b c1881 Gt Waltham he single & working as an agric labourer.  So right age etc.

1921 there’s a George Sorrell 42 b: Lt Waltham working as an engine driver for Lord Rayleigh at Terling.

There’s then a death recorded for an Arthur George Sorrell age 73 buried 9 Nov 1954 Terling All Saints.

Can’t find a George or an Arthur in 1939 to narrow down as to whether this is same Arthur/George or not.  To make matters worse there was an Arthur Sorrell 1883 son of James Sorrell & Mary Ann (Miller) in same sort of location.

Gt Waltham, Lt Waltham, Gt Leigh’s & Terling are all fairly close to each other.

Is he with family in 1881/1891 as Arthur George?

If you have parents alive in 1911 you can check number of children still living (if you haven’t already) to be sure he is alive and out there somewhere.

Yes he’s with them in  1881 - Arthur George & just as Arthur in 1891.  In Howe Street, Great Waltham.

They had 6 children - 1911 says 5 still alive.  Ellen Linnett (nee Sorrell) died in 1906.  There was a stepson - son of Mary Ann Hornsby & he’s not counted into the 6 children of John & Mary Ann.

Still looking for Arthur seemingly

& thanks Ladyhawk - yes I have all the births & bpt for the family but it’s Arthur or maybe George that I can’t track down.

Helpful suggestion ladyhawk but no I don’t have exact date of birth unfortunately as it might help eliminate or confirm the death in 1954.

In 1921 Arthur b c1883 is in Gt Waltham & his father James is living with him.  So possibly the 1921 George in Gt Leigh’s is Arthur George - just haven’t found him subsequently to confirm that.

Yes I have stuff on Earnest John - he was my Gt Uncle & I actually had the pleasure of knowing both him & his wife Ethel. 

I’m just trying to complete all the tricky ones I haven’t managed to track down previously.  I did a lot in the ERO in late 70s. It’s so much easier now.

Can’t see that he married or was in military.

I’ve also checked member trees - unfortunately some are very wide of the mark.

Really just trying to make sure I haven’t missed the obvious myself.
