Marriage records. Belgium
« on: Sunday 07 December 25 12:17 GMT (UK) »
Am I right in thinking Belgium marriage records come under a 75 yr rule. Would 1930s marriage records be available online ? Thank you

Thank you for the info links. Agatha seems only to go up until 1920 so don’t think I will find any details of a marriage in 1930s unless I’m reading it wrong.

In an ideal world certificates would be automatically available to the public when older than 75 years. But alas, a lot of municipalities aren't up to this task.
If you know where and when a certain marriage took place, you can order it for free.

I quote the website:
Via the registrar of births, marriages and deaths of the municipality where the certificate was drawn up.

I know we’re the marriage took place NIVELLES but not year. The marriage was between Henri George’s Laurent Marie Ghislain Libert (born 1908) and Maria Rachel Anais Philippart (born 1910) Henri Libert died 1942. Taking into account there birth years I’m assuming they married around the 1930s ?

Ps: the only other thing I know they did have a child “Monique” which I assume was born prior Henri’s death.

Following on with this marriage for Maria Rachel Anais Philippart & Henri Georges Laurent Marie Ghislain Libert. EtatCivil Nivelles & Brussels have confirmed that they have no record of a marriage between these two people…so I’m back to the drawing board!!!!

Henri Libert’s death certificate does give Maria Philippart as spouse so I assume they did marry? A question I have is that Maria Philippart was born Legrand as her parents were not married at the time of birth, but her certificate does have a note showing that her father Desire Philippart legitimised her as his daughter. Therefore could it be possible she married under the name Legrand?

If I could find there daughter Monique’s birth it may possibly give a better idea of the marriage date.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
David

I have received info from etat-civil Genappe that a Ms Maria Philippart ( Maria Rachel Anais Philippart) was living in Pont-a-Celles in 1931 prior to moving to Nivelles, but they have no further info to give. Are there any census records etc available. Regards

I don't think the Registres de population from 1930s would be publically available.

https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Belgium_Population_Records
 - suggests that you may be able to get an extract sent from the commune.
