What a trip you had Jeff but at least all went smoothly and you were in and out quickly and hopefully missed the rain.

LM you would defo be missed as would everyone who has posted in this section for the past 5 yrs!!

I might not post as much as I used to but I love reading everyone’s posts especially the reminiscences of past times it’s fascinating and memories are so important.

Well it’s D day tomorrow and the halls all decorated with twinkly lights and some stalls already done…
the 20 wreaths we made yesterday all hanging on a wooden Christmas tree frame looking quite spectacular.
No one’s phoned/messaged to say they’re not able to come… so we just need no rain preferably and lots of peeps..
We just managed to get stuff into the hall before the rain.. I can hear it now so hoping it’ll have rained itself out.
I’d forgotten how much works involved in the organisation only doing it biannualy.. it’s not helped by us having to leave the girls to clear up as we’re down to London at 4pm to see our youngest grandson play his saxophone in the cadenza ensemble he’s part of.

I to hope KG is ok having not posted for so long… I think LM’s idea of asking family to post a message stops all the worry about what’s happened to someone.

Well I’m off to bed as have an early start and I have to assist OH making a cake to take to our daughters tomorrow! I made tge mistake of telling her he’d made two this morning for the cake stall!

Take care all and hope you’re all nice and warm and dry.

Hope you do well today Caroline, it gets more tiring  every year I do these fetes, fayres or  bazaars  plays havoc  with my posters  keep changing it.
We now have a young girl who works with posters so she does more professional  ones, I top up with mine, it works, every house in the village was posted fliers, we did go a little further afield, but it worked for us this year,  after the Christmas bazaar, I came home and sank into a chair, everything ached but hey ho it was worth it, was a happy day which is a bonus, plus we took a record amount.
Enjoy Caroline.

Thanks LM and Viktoria, well the weather held out with some blue skies, mild and dry so a big bonus..
We had a steady flow of people all day which was great… cake stall sold out by just after lunch including a beautifully iced Christmas cake for £30!
Our wreaths were quite slow to go as so many go on ‘wreath making’ days charging a small fortune for the privilege (£60-£80.. eye watering sums) so ours at £20 were a snip! Local farmer who sells Christmas trees has taken our last 8 to sell for us.
The raffle always does well.. 1st prize meat hamper from our local butchers about £40 worth of meat! Nearly 30 prizes in total
The girls in the kitchen served up nearly 60 bacon baps and two varieties of soup bit the dust too..
All our stall holders did well and always say what a nice atmosphere it is, friendly village folk and the hall festively decorated with lots of twinkly lights!
As to sums of money as yet I don’t know as I regally had all my goods packed away and I was shoved out the door as they knew I’d never get going by 4pm to go to London!
They’re a lovely lot and tbh it was relaxing to just sit in the car while OH drove, catch up on messages etc and not think about
has anyone swept the floor
did we put all the chairs back in the right place..
did anyone turn off the electricity
Put the door key in the right place!
Daughter got me to put a tracker on our progress so she knew exactly where we were..
Arrived to a meal on the plates, sat and ate then walked round the corner to the concert..
What a joy firstly to see our grandson playing his saxophone and then to listen to all the other musical ensembles playing the whole spectrum of musical instruments and the choirs.
A couple of hours well spent relaxing with family and after the last few  hectic weeks it was actually a real treat!
We left for home just before 10pm roads were pretty quiet and after a glass of wine I can go to bed and have a much needed good sleep…
Never mind that our hall looks like a jumble sale with boxes, bags all over the place .. tomorrow is another day when I can sort it all out!
I’ll let you know what we raised after our get together and post-mortem!
My best friend and co organiser is having a hip replacement on Tuesday so not much time to get sorted!

Off to bed now.. all the best to all

Our church Christmas fair on Saturday was a great success with home made cakes and items handcrafted from various materials, books and plants.  Coffee was served and soup at lunch time.  There is always a Grand Raffle with hampers and bottles and large boxes of chocolates.  I bought tickets, but as usual didn't win a prize.  Some people are regular winners - they must just be lucky folk, I think.  I had a friend who always won raffle prizes, but I rarely strike it lucky. I did once win a Lucky Dip raffle prize, which I remember consisted of several small items that nobody wanted, including a chipped bright pink pot plant container.

A dull rather rainy day today, so one for putting up the Christmas decorations. I wrote all my cards yesterday, so am quite pleased that's done.  Sent a card to Switzerland which cost me £3.40! There are a few more foreign cards to go.  Postage has become so expensive. :(

At our bazaar we tried some new things this year, we had a bottle stall £2, wine, or water, or something else, was very popular,  I bought 2 tickets and I won water, so I increased everybody's chances to get wine, there was also 2 bottles of whisky,  first time we tried it and it was popular  but of course you have to rely on donations and it is always the same ones who donate, we also had jam jars filled with silly things,  that was popular, poss 50p a go, there  was things like sweets,  and anything that looked reasonable, we made £1700 and we are still getting  donations,  very hard work but worth it.

Lousy day here, weather-wise..

just heard this morning  our Rev has has a huge op, words were "we nearly lost him" how careless!!,  bit of a shock to us all,  can only wish him well.

Take care, nearly another week gone

Our Bauble service today, lovely to be back amongst people,so welcoming.
Not our Rector however, I spoke to him as he has a little boy just a few days older than my youngest GGrand daughter, but he said very little.
He has four churches ,Our St.Paul’s ,St.Andrew’s,St Philip’s and Edenfield - can’t remember the dedication for that church ut is always just Edenfield .
A Chapel of rest for pilgrims to Whalley Abbey..

Very rainy day and in our street I found undelivered mail for the next street !
Postie must have dropped it yesterday. I put it on top of an electricity or phone  junction box ,postie tomorrow will see it probably.

Well mincemeat to make tomorrow ,a nice recipe with lots of orange and lemon zest and Cointreau .

Well T,V tonight is rubbish - so an early night. Not got a good book either -  Congrats on the Christmas Fair results, a lot  of hard work .

Look after yourselves and thanks for the news.
Viktoria.
