looking for info on Bohans
« on: Saturday 29 November 25 22:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
Looking for some info on possible family links, hopeful that someone here can help! My details are a little vague, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Sorry it's a little jumbled on timeline, too.

Looking for any details on:
John Bohan (born around 1942 +/- 3 years)
Anne E Bohan (same)
Thomas Bohan (no birth details) - I think he may have been married to Margaret Canning in 1931-1932?

I think they were from Mohill, but I can't definitively say 100%. I'm just guessing from the records I have found so far.

All moved to Birmingham UK around 1960-1961. Lived on Long Acre in Nechells, Birmingham, in 1961. May have moved back to Mohill after 1963.

And there may have been other family with them, these are the only names I could find that match descriptions I've been given.

My theory is that Thomas is Anne and John's father. But again, not 100%.

I've been told John would be with his sisters "Nancy" and "Sheila". I believe "Nancy" is Anne. No clue about "Sheila". Their family may have owned or worked in a shop on Long Acre in Birmingham.

If I've found the right Anne E Bohan, I've learned she married to Thomas McKeown in 1962 and had a daughter (Louise) in 1963, while still in Birmingham. And if it's the same one, she did go by "Nancy" (confirmed in the birth announcement for Louise). And at some point she and Tom moved to Carrick-on-Shannon, Drumcong. And she passed in 2023.

Primarily looking for info on John.

Appreciate any and all insight, thank you!

Welcome to RootsChat, bentosmith  :)

As Sarah says, RootsChat is here to help people find their ancestors, not their living relatives, and because of that, we do have a 'no living people policy'.

That said, here's some information-

I think I've found all the living relatives on Nancy's side on my own research, so I'm not looking for info on them.

But I'm pretty sure John has passed. As well as his siblings, at least I know Nancy has. I understand they're probably right at the cusp of living/dead (what a way to phrase that...)

...at some point she and Tom moved to Carrick-on-Shannon, Drumcong.

Drumcong village and townland is a fair way from Carrick-on-Shannon.

Thank you for the clarity. The obituary notice for Nancy says her residence was "Drumcong, Carrick-on-Shannon" and I'm just not familiar enough with the area..
