Drigg and Irton Cumberland parish registers
« on: Saturday 29 November 25 18:46 GMT (UK) »
I hope someone can help with this I am posting for a friend. Tamar/Thamar Gaitskel[ (loads of variations in spelling) Recorded on her marriage is at Gosforth 05.06.1731 to Isaac Kitchen (again various spellings)  he was from Irton and she was from Drigg.

I have seen posts that she was born abt 1710 but I have not been able to locate anything for Tamar so hope someone can help as I can only find marriages posted online for Gosforth. Ancestry are saying her parents are Edward and Isabel but has there is no birth how do they know?

Isaac and Tamar Kitchen had 11 children before her demise 12.01.1751 in Irton.  Isaac remarried 26.05.1754 at Irton and had another 3 children.

I have found Isaac's birth 28.11.1708 in Irton father Henry Kitchen and on another child found his mothers name was Jane.  He died 14.04.1746 in Irton.

What I am hoping for is a birth of Tamar 1710 giving her parents names Drigg/Gosforth?

A marriage of Henry Kitchen and Jane prior to 1699 Irton or Gosforth? Jane maybe Walker not sure?

A birth of Henry Kitchen circa 1673

I know it's a lot to ask but any help on any of this would be much appreciated  ??? ???

OGIndex suggests that very little of the registers of either parish have appeared online.
In microfilm at Cumbria Archives Drigg has apparently continuous registers from 1631; Irton from 1697, although baptisms seem to be absent after 1866. The staff in Carlisle are endlessly helpful and will issue an archives card on arrival if you need one.

Thank you both for your help.  On the marriage bond one thing became apparent (I think) she needed consent to marry in 1731 so she must have been born later than 1710.

Bit annoying that the records are not online.  I looked loads up for Brampton online.
