I agree completely with your comments about Ancestry and the names they allocate to districts. My research barely touches Yorkshire so I always have to check which part the records have to come under. Sadly Ancestry seems to use current day areas a lot like Elmbridge, Waverley, Spelthorne instead of the towns of Weybridge, Walton on Thames, Farnham and Staines etc. So many places have been put into areas by Ancestry that were only created by local government reorganisation in the 1970’s or later but they infer they were the names used long before that.
