Henry Johnston tailor Walsall
« on: Wednesday 26 November 25 12:40 GMT (UK) »
Good Morning
I'm looking for a Henry Johnston born c 1844 Washington USA .He married at Rushall 29.3.1869 giving his address as The Butts ,father Henry a tailor dec .Wife Alice Hale born 1847 Walsall .

The couple are together in Ashton under Lyme 1871 Gosforth st
and 1881 Blue Lane East Walsall.
He then disappears  ,while his wife Alice, still married and children are in Sheepwash Lane West Brom. The following census the lodger Harry Dawes turns into her ' husband' but no marriage presumably because Henry is still alive.

Where did he go ?
Better still who are his parents?

There is a witness to the marriage Ann Johnston  but not finding definite connection.
I know it's a toughie but any clues would be gratefully received.
I'm away for the weekend so plenty of time to chew over the problem

Thank you

There is a Henry Johnson death reg. West Bromwich  March quarter 1884, vol 6b page 472

age 35.  (note spelling) He is Johnson on census records

Age is out he would have been 39 but worth checking to see who reported the death and where they
were living.

The children who appear in 1881 census have a mixture of Johnson/Johnston  gro birth registrations.

I think the 1884 death is the 1881 entry b Eastwood Notts as wife Catherine remarried.

If Henry died between1881 & 1891 Alice would be shown as a widow in 1891
