ANDREWS family
« on: Monday 24 November 25 13:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I'm looking for help for an ancestor on my maternal line

Lydia ANDREWS married Thomas HINTON and they lived and had children  in Crux Easton Hampshire

Her siblings were possibly James and Hannah ( a daughter Mary Ann was living with James Andrews on the 1851 census)

Family search shows a Lydia born 1785 in Thatcham  and a possible marriage for James in Thatcham in 1807, but I can't verify the link to Berkshire

As Lydia died before the 1851 census I can't corroborate

Any help with Berkshire links greatly appreciated

They were the names of the witnesses to Lydia's marriage.  Lydia, James and Hannah all signed the marriage document, Thomas Hinton marked x.

In 1851 James Andrews place of birth is possibly Ecchinswell / Itchingswell  :-\.
He is 65 and his wife is Martha.

There is a baptism in 1818 at Newbury for an Andrew Andrews which would match the Andrew living with them - parents James and Martha - Andrew was born at East Woodhay according to the baptism and that ties in with the census.  At the same time there was a baptism for a James Andrews born Winterbourn, he is also with his parents in 1851.

James Andrews (Snr) a bachelor married Martha Nalder a Spinster at Winterbourne 19 Dec 1811 - James was of East Woodhay and Martha of Chieveley, Oare Chapel.  Witnesses were John Nalder and Hannah Andrews

ADDED

In 1841 Lydia Henton could have No against bn in County.  It is certainly not the same as the Yes for the others on the page. (FindMyPast have transcribed it as Yes)

What birthplace do her siblings have?

Kingslere for both James and Hannah (parents John and Jane) - but possible marriage for James to Mary Hopson back in Thatcham 1807

I'm not sure how common this surname is, especially with parents named John and Jane at this time

Thank you so much - so possibly the marriage I found to Mary Hopson isn't the same James Andrews

Thank you - I'm just wondering why Lydia would be baptised in Thatcham as I think both John and Jane are from Hampshire

Thanks All

So my possible connection with James Andrews marrying Mary Hopson in Thatcham 1807 is a probable red herring

I'm just wondering why Lydia was baptised in Thatcham when her siblings and parents are all in Hampshire
