In case it's useful, the 1939 Register for Waterloo Cottage, North Marine Rd, Flamborough....

Charles Ward b.14 Jul 1877 Ships Steward (temporarily unemployed)
Jessie J Ward b.14 Oct 1878 Udd
Joseph T Varey b.06 Nov 1829 At School

Burials Flamborough
Charles William Ward d.09 Jan 1952 bur.11 Jan 1952
Jessie Johnston Ward d.02 Jun 1944 bur.05 Jun 1944
Residence at time of death for both - "Thornhill", North Marine Rd, Flamborough.

I cant see "Thornhill" listed in 1939 and from later maps it's on the south side of the road almost opposite Waterloo Cottage so they do appear to be different buildings. I think we can say that Waterloo Cottage was likely not occupied by the Wards post 1943.

It says ‘Event Place Maine, United States.’

Have found this pension card online for George M. Green, not sure if you have this

General Index to Pension Files, 1861-1934

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01u3k/

George 15th Battalion B Company, filed from England Oct. 18th 1921

I can't see where the reference to Adair, Oklahoma comes from

Brilliant guys, thank you so much. Granted we lack his date of death, but the extra information you’ve turned up gives us something to work on. I’ve approached one of the guys who is running his family tree on ancestry for further help on George Green.

Thanks heywood for the link. It’s helping immensely with other documents too.

Sc00p I drew a blank in the 1939 register for Waterloo Cottage, so thank you for that, as that too opens a few doors. The Charles W Ward you listed, could very well be the superintendent who ran the sailor’s home in 1921, though this
needs confirming. Charles was listed as born in 1877, and Jessie Johnston/Johnson Ward about 1871 when they ran the home.

Thanks Willsy for the images and additional record. I’ll pass this all on to Michael when he’s available to view his computer again in a few days.

Well done everyone. You’ve done us both proud and deserve a pat on the back, and a shake of the hand.

Maurice

Thanks Willsy,

One of the problems we encountered at the moment was the American lockdown and not getting in touch with our American friend who looks up the pension records for us at the archives.

I’ll check it out to see if it’s the one we have already.
