Further to my Reply #49 (page 6)

From the baptisms of Mary and Jane Barber, and from two directories, there is evidence that John Barber moved his grocery business from Selby to Beverley between 1822 and 1828.  This list reduces the gap.  Ann Foster Barber may have been born at her grandmother's house as was frequently the case for first babies.

the "challenge" to find Mary & Samuel, both in Walkergate , in the 1841 census has beaten me ! Walkergate seems to be a district of Newcastle.
the Barbers are in Walker Gate in Beverley in 1841 - see census on reply no.48.

Thank you osprey for adding the address which I omitted from my post  ::)
Mary obviously gave her family address on her 1843 marriage perhaps she was not in the household the day of the census  :-\

In the 1841 census, the age of persons over 15 was supposed to be rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5. For example, a person aged 19 would be listed as 15, a person aged 22 would be listed as age 20..........

Perhaps one to bear in mind - although no occupation given

Mary Barber age 15
Where born   Yorkshire
Registration District   Beverley
Sub-registration district   Leven
1841c Piece   1222

It seems it was a very sad period for Agnes Coxon when married in 1916 to Michael Anthony Coxon .Looking through all those very interesting records ,as far as I can see Agnes never saw her husband again after he left England in 1917.
Reply 31,Item 45,in 1917 he applied for and was granted a free passage to Australia for Agnes but it seems this never happened. Then in 1920 Agnes's letter to the mining co pleading for help for his return to England. He died in 1925 in Melbourne.
I think all of this is correct ??
Michael also says he has been a resident in Australia for 25 years which means he arrived there around 1893 (he was born in London in 1883).I cannot find any England census record for him,or any voyage record.
Again any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for the reply Ladyhawk.
I had found the interesting Lodge records.
The census record certainly fits and the date is just prior to his presumed emigration around 1893.
