As Samuel Beckett was an agricultural labourer in 1851, it seems likely John and George were born at one of the farms.

I have had a very prompt reply from NLS Maps who have explained they are in the middle of scanning another set of 6-inch maps which are being loaded as single sheets, and will replace the damaged one in the continuous layer, when the set is finished.

MollyC--the 1851 census shows them being at Wilfsholm,the Inn is the next entry.
I would like to complete Samuel Becketts wife,Mary Barbers tree but am stuck with the 1841 census and  her birth.
She married in Beverley in 1843,1861 census born North Dalton, close by,but 1851 census shows born Selby some 40 miles away.
Any help again appreciated.

Do you have her marriage certificate? There is a transcription on Anc* y of marriage no image
What was her father John’s occupation?

Findmypast has the last entry above (1819) indexed in "Archbishop of York Marriage Licences Index".  Intended marriage place = Routh.
So the date relates to the licence and ages may not be accurate. No image.

BUT the parish record is in "Yorkshire Marriages" index, at Routh, East Riding.  Image available.

His wife a Mary Barber born 1822.

After Samuels death it would seem that Mary may have abandoned her children as I cannot find any trace of her after 1851.

gracol you mentioned  you couldn't find Mary after 1851 and then you say you have found Mary in 1861 born North Dalton - could you please post details of the 1861 census entry you have found as I'm having trouble finding it

That was a Mary Robson born Selby

Ok did I miss read as I thought you had found a Mary Beckett born North Dalton

Mary Barber born 1822 Selby.
1843 she married & became Beckett (husband died 1852).
She remarried in 1860 & became Mary Robson.
1861 Census Mary Robson.
