Ann Clements Broughton Hackett
« on: Sunday 16 November 25 22:48 GMT (UK) »
Ann Clements died 25 April 1886 at North Farm Broughton Hackett.
I am trying to find where she was buried.  There is nothing on Ancestry.
I have looked at the Broughton Hackett registers and there is no burial record for her in the BH register.
She lived previously at Norton-juxta-Kempsey but there is no burial record there either.
Her husband (George Clements) died in 1907 when living in Great Malvern and is buried in Great Malvern cemetery.
I would really appreciate any help in finding where she was buried.

Hi
As Ann wasn’t buried at Broughton Hackett, Crowle or Upton Snodsbury according to the Bishop’s Transcripts of parish registers on Ancestry,  perhaps she was buried at another nearby church, St Michael’s, Churchill which doesn’t seem to be on Ancestry. The burial registers are on microfilm at the Worcestershire Archives at The Hive in Worcester.

Thank you Jack so much for the suggestion.
I arranged last week to get copies of the relevant Churchill register for the 1880s from The Hive at Worcester but unfortunately there is no burial record for Ann Clements there, so the mystery continues.  Any there any other adjacent parishes that are not on Ancestry?

Hi
Have a look at GENUKI for Broughton Hackett and get a sense of the area. The map shows you its position in relation to other C of E parishes. The section also explains that the major landowners were the Coventry family of Croome Court and the Berkeleys of Spetchley Park. Sometimes Berkeley tenants from outside of Spetchley were buried there. If you go to the card catalogue on Ancestry and key in Worcestershire you will find All Worcestershire, England, Church of England Deaths and Burials 1813-1997, you can browse any parishes you are interested in and from that discover what length of time for each one is covered on Ancestry. In the case of Spetchley the burials only go up to 1866.  I had to go into Worcester early this morning and I had the opportunity check Spetchley PRs, Ann is not buried there.

The only other none parish registers suggestion I can make is that she might have been buried at Pershore Cemetery, records are held in the Original Documents Section (ODS) of Explore the Past - the Worcs Archives. The register of graves 1876-1950 is not on microfilm. The reference is Ref b260.32.1 BA 2385/1. Unfortunately, the Archives opened  at 1.30pm today and It wasn’t possible for me to stay until then. If the staff are not able to do a free look-up for you and you are prepared to wait I should be going into Worcester, other than on a Wednesday (!) in the next week or so.

Hi
I’ve checked and Ann’s name doesn’t appear in the Pershore Cemetery records or those for Astwood Cemetery, Worcester.

Jack
