Is this his son?

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/223176252/joseph-barker-britton

   BRITTON, JOSEPH  BARKER     51
GRO Reference: 1917  J Quarter in DERBY  Volume 07B  Page 657

If he is his son and has been interred as BRITTON, I wonder if this could be his father?

Deaths Dec 1871   (>99%)
BRITTON    John    28    Oswestry    6a   500

Thanks hanes teulu. Would the inquest regarding his death be archived somewhere?

https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/coroners-inquests/

Try googling "have inquest reports been archived" or similar.

This is what we know, I think
1871 3610 /46/2
Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Jabez Brittain, 28 yrs , Licensed Victualler with wife, Sarah and children, Hannah Martha, James B and Thomas W.
* James B is presumably Joseph Barker Brittain
1881 4669/39/13
Handsworth, Yorkshire
Sarah E is a widow with children, Martha H, Joseph B, Thomas W, and Maria.
Maria was registered in Chesterfield in 1871.

I wonder why he would go to Tong, Shropshire? Perhaps the death certificate will have a bit more information.

What I see -

Jabez last sighted in the Old Ship Inn in June 1871 - (newspaper report). The licence of the Old Ship Inn changes hands Jun 1872 but no mention of Jabez - (newspaper report).

According to this, the Farnsworth family was living there by 4 October 1871

Yes I agree - no mention after that. But then I wonder why Sarah moved to Handsworth, Yorkshire. However, it is only about 13 miles away from Chesterfield.

Her parents Joseph Barker and Hannah nee Duell were also living there in 1881 with daughter Hannah, a nephew and a granddaughter.
