Jonathan Emerson

Looking for any information on the birth of baptism of Jonathan Emerson probably Stanhope or St John's Chapel. He was married on 1 October 1747 to Isabella Rowell at St Thomas Stanhope and died November 1776 at Wellhope, Stanhope, buried 14 November 1776 St John's. I have his marriage record and will but no record of his birth or parents.

Probably you know this, but at Durham Records Online there is a Jonathan Emerson baptism at Stanhope, St Thomas in 1734, which isn't early enough for the marriage date of 1747. Nothing else that I can see. Their Stanhope records go back much earlier than this.

Worth remembering that year of baptism does not always equate with year of birth. Some people weren't baptised as babies but as children or even adults.

I noticed there is a baptism for Jon (father John) in 1720 shown on Durham Records online and wondered if this could be him.

I notice there is also another Jon baptised 1723 father Thomas. Just wondered if the Jon could be Jonathan.
