I am in search of some biographical information on John Clark, who lived or had his chambers in 35 or 39 Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, Londen, in 1814. He possibly was a solicitor or notary. Could somebody be of help? Many thanks in advance.

I don't read French, however there is this advertisement mentioning a Jean CLARK of 35 Southampton Buildings, in 1815. Not sure if this helps at all.

Thanks very much. This is the man whom I am looking for. Unfortunately his occupation of profession isn't mentioned. I couldn't find him the London Gazette. Is there any almanac of addressbook that could help ?

Not much help, I can see the Post Office London Directory for 1820 - at 35 Southampton Buildings there is a J.T. NIXON "Messenger of Bankrupts".

There are also a couple of advertisements mentioning James CLARK at 35 Southampton Buildings in the Sussex Advertiser:

Mr Clark, Southampton buildings is the attorney for a number of bankrupts in 1819
