That's what I thought. Can you find her on electoral rolls between 1939 and 1948?
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

The last one I can find for the two of them is 1939 actually. Both census and electoral rolls

Just bought the Croydon death certificate. Happy to say its definitely her!

Seems like Edgar was married in 1896 before being married to Caroline. So they were both people who had been with somebody before hand
