Marriage of Thomas Richards to Elizabeth Jones 22 April 1837 Oswestry
« on: Sunday 09 November 25 12:34 GMT (UK) »
:) Hi Fellow members, I think the image for this on FindMyPast

Marriage of Thomas Richards to Elizabeth Jones 22 April 1837 Oswestry, St Oswald's. Annoyingly it misses civil registration by just one quarter!

I am hoping that something from the image might help. If someone could advise their respective ages (Hopefully more than just FULL by 1837)

Also I am pinning my hopes on the witnesses being of use.

Thanks in advance.

No ages shown, only Bachelor and Spinster.  Thomas signs, Elizabeth makes her mark, as do the witnesses - Richard and Jane Price.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Is this the couple who have a son Joseph born 24th September 1832 where parents are recorded as Thomas Richards & Elizabeth Jones, Labourer and vagrant.

To the best of my knowledge yes, but it's based on nothing more than names, location & time frame.

Just in case it helps.
Looking at births Thomas Richards 1810 and Elizabeth Jones 1808.
The census gives both born in Oswestry
We have
Thomas s of Thomas and Hannah Richards 8.11.1810 taylor dies as a baby
Thomas s of Samuel and Margaret joiner Church St 8.1.1811
Thomas s of John and Ann lab dies age 3 12.4.1818
Thomas 25.7.1814 s of William and Elizabeth innkeeper .

The ones that seem to fit die as babies but if we take the Whittington baptism as a clue ,how about Thomas Richards in that parish?

Thomas Richards bapt 21.7.1809 s of Thomas and Elizabeth Richards lab Hindford.
Siblings Samuel 24.6.1804,Sarah 28.8.1807,Mary 25.2.1812 ,Richard 6.5.1818.

The 1841 census has the family still there.
Hindford
Thomas Richards 60 lab y
Richard 20 school master y (marries 6.9.1841 Elizabeth Whitticase in Walsall)
Daughter Sarah married Joseph Downes 4.5.1832 and is living next door.
Could Thomas and Elizabeth have visited for the wedding and their child Joseph have been born then? After all christenings may be a month or so after birth so 23.8.1832  not that far off.

Thomas is buried 23.2.1850 age 70 of Hindford
Elizabeth 3.7.1837 wife of Thomas of Hindford age 59.

Just an idea .What do you think?

ps Samuel Price one of the witnesses seems to be a neighbour in Salop St.I can't see another connection.
