My reasons for looking into this…besides the obvious interest…is that my Gt Grandad had his little Fumsup charm.
These were around in the late 19th century and were very popular during WW1.
They are pewter body with a wooden head…the idea being that by having a bit of wood in your pocket you had something to touch for luck.
I wanted to see if I could pinpoint when this little chap appeared in my Great Grandad’s pocket and what action he might have seen.
I could probably safely say that he went on the Benbow.
