George Cranston BAIRD

Can anyone help?
I am trying to find a burial record for WW1 soldier GEORGE CRANSTON BAIRD who died on 23 Aug 1918. He died at Cambuslang but searches in that area have drawn a blank.
I have now discovered that George was born at Crookedstone, Crawford on 2 Feb 1876 to David and Williamina Baird (nee Hope). David was a shepherd.
Williamina Baird died on 14 Jan 1888 at Garrock, in the parish of Closeburn, Dumfriesshire. David died, also at Garroch, on 12 Nov 1897. George was present at the death.
It would seem likely that David and Williamina were buried around Closeburn. Is George Cranston Baird buried with them??
George is entitled to War Grave designation - if proof of burial can be established.
Can anyone offer any snippets of information?  I would be very grateful.

Hi, In the D&G Standard dated 4 Sept 1918 there is a short article re his death.
It confirms his discharge from the army (Gunner in the R.G.A.) It states that he was traveling from London to Scotland to recieve medical treatment at a sanatorium . It states his place of death was an address in Cambuslang, Glasgow. No info re burial.
The CWGC does have him listed on the new Brookwood 1914-1918 Memorial.
If you want a copy of paper article, send me a PM with your Email.

Thanks, matt muir. I have already seen this Press report which raises various questions - but unfortunately doesn't help with locating his grave. But I appreciate your response.
