James Griffiths married Nancy Parkes in 1840 in Halesowen.
In 1841 they are living in Halesowen. James is a nailor. Living next door are John and Mary Parkes, who might be Nancy's parents.

James then married Mary Ann Brettel in 1855 in Dudley. She may have also been widowed.

The marriage records will show the name and occupation of his father.

Census records suggest that James was born in Dudley around 1816.

There is a possible baptism there in 1816 with parents Thomas and Mary Ann, but you need to see James ‘ marriage records to know the name of his father.

Benjamin Brettell reg Dudley 1849 and John Brettell reg Dudley 1851 are both illegitimate sons of

Mary Ann Brettell. (no mother's maiden name listed)

They can be seen 1851 Census Rowley Regis.
