Stewarts of Ford Hill, Northumberland
« on: Monday 03 November 25 22:51 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to confirm that John Stewart/Stuart of Ford Hill, Northumberland is my 8 x great grandfather.

John Stewart born c1685 at Ford Hill, Northumberland and was buried 3 May 1761 at Ford, Northumberland

Robert Stewart born unknown, buried 23 Aug 1773 in Ford, Northumberland

Robert Stewart born 24 Feb 1730 in Ford, Northumberland and died 1780 in Longbenton, Northumberland

William Stewart born 1755 in Longbenton, Northumberland and died 4 Jun 1840 in Armoy, Ireland

John Stewart born 1798 in Armoy, Ireland and died 14 Oct 1887 in Armoy, Ireland

Robert Stewart born 1835 in Antrim, Ireland and died 28 Sep 1871 in Auchinleck, Ayrshire

John Stewart born 1858 in Antrim, Ireland and died 24 Apr 1915 in Lugar, Ayrshire

Donald McDonald Grant Stewart born 18 Jan 1900 in Auchinleck, died 1983 in Dumfries

John Grant Stewart born 31 July 37 in Dundee, died 3 Nov 01 in Brechin

Has anyone else come across this line of Stewarts?

Interestingly, Robert Stewart (1730-1780) was born at Ford on 24 February 1730 but baptised at Kelso on 8 March 1730.

Welcome to RootsChat.
Since this is a public site, for security, I would suggest you remove your name and birth date from your post. Also remove names of any other living person.

STEWART is quite a common name, and the only way to confirm your lineage is through research and finding the appropriate documentary evidence.
What documentation do you have to support your family tree, or have you relied on copying information and errors from the public trees of other?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

I have birth, baptism, marriage and death documentation for everyone back to 1773. I have parish records from Ford (St Michael and All Angels) for John Stewart/Stuart. There is another Robert b.1746 that is causing some confusion.
