Mary Morrison.
« on: Sunday 02 November 25 18:17 GMT (UK) »
Evening all,

Hoping someone can help provide a little clarity in to Mary Morrison.

I'll put the info I have on her in to a timeline and hopefully someone can fathom where to look next.

Timeline:

1822-1828 Born (Possibly one of the locations shown in the census below)
1850 married to James Morrison (28 Jan at Kildalton and Oa, Argyll, Scotland)
1851 census at Nicholas Place, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland Aged 28 place of birth Argyll, Islay.
1861 census at Weaver Street, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland aged 35 place of birth Port Charlotte Kilchoman
1871 census at Weaver Street, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland aged 46 place of birth Kilmeny (possibly)
1871-1883 died.
1883 son Archibald gets married and both parents recorded as deceased.

A search for deaths of Mary Morrison between 1871 and 1883 shows 10 possible one.

A search of births in Argyll of a Mary Morrison brings up 5 results.
None of the death results mmn shows no matches to the births in Argyll.

Anyone got ideas or suggestions ?

I'm a bit baffles at the moment.

Thanks in advance,
Neil.

If she isn’t on the 1881 - she presumably died before.

In 1871 she is living in the Glasgow Central RD & there are only 2 likely deaths in that RD

1873 aged 49
1874 aged 47

She was 46 in 1871

I had sort of thought of those two.

I've just bought some more SP credits (Hope the wife doesn't check the bank account lol as it was the second purchase this weekend).  :D

Update @CaroleW

Tried the 47 yo in 11874. Although the parents are Morrisons Mary's name is something like MCluckyey

The second one is SPOT ON - THANKS

Mary died 3 Jul 1874.
Father Peter a farmer (Deceased)
Mother Ann (Nee Anderson) (Deceased)

There is a little bit of it that is confusing though in the red area.

1851 census at Nicholas Place, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland Aged 28 place of birth Argyll, Islay.
1861 census at Weaver Street, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland aged 35 place of birth Port Charlotte Kilchoman
1871 census at Weaver Street, Inner High, Glasgow, Scotland aged 46 place of birth Kilmeny (possibly)
Port Charlotte is a village in the parish of Kilchoman on the island of Islay in the county of Argyll.

Not sure how Kilmeny fits in. It is a neighbouring but separate parish on the same island. And don't confuse it with Kilmany which is in Fife :)

Your snip is too small to read the text.
Is it about her husband?

Checking that census record on FreeCEN confirms that this family was in Port Charlotte, Parish of Kilchoman, and therefore on the island of Islay in the county of Argyll. QED.

There is a little bit of it that is confusing though in the red area.
She was widowed twice. Her first husband was Duncan McDougall and her second was James Morrison, I think Gaswork Labourer.

In the second column it says that the time of her death was 8 (or maybe 5?) hrs and 30 (or maybe 3) minutes pm, and she died at 12 Weaver Street.
