My cousin has a DNA match in Ghana who shares Dna with descendants of John Banks ELLIOTT b 1852

One tree names 4 Ghanaian children and their mother
Would there be records of these births or their marriages .

I think his next wife may have died in childbirth.
There are a lot of John Banks ELLIOTT  among his potential grandchildren

The few trees on ancestry don't seem to.have records .

On Internet I found that Clement Henry ELLIOTT was ordained and had a house in a school named after him

John Banks ELLIOTT  married Helen Eliza HULBERT.in.Dorset 1887

She was recorded as head of household in 1900 and as widowed head in 1911

But if information is correct son Clement born in Ghana in 1893 and other children subsequently

There is a dna match to descendant of Helens daughter Dorothy Elliott  born 1888

I wonder if he died in Ghana

There’s a Wikipedia page for John Banks Elliott (1917-2018) which mentions that his grandfather, a timber merchant, spent time in Ghana in the 1880s and 1890s. He was also a photographer and his work is archived in the Bodleian Library .That suggests the Bodleian may have a biography available.

Also worth finding out who made the bequest.

Have you checked the newspapers for early mention of a "John B Elliott" and "J B Elliott" - Sierra Leone rather than Ghana.

The details you found indicate that it is possible that John Banks ELLIOTT had 4 or more children in Ghana between 1880 and 1905
I.had discounted Gerald Barton ELLIOTT 1880 as being unlikely

On 1911 His widowed English  wife was originally listed as married 19 years with one child but that line was crossed out

It might be worth getting his will and seeing if he left anything to any of his children .

I.ll look for the wilepedia entrance to see who his grandson descends from .
