I think Joseph Street was north of Shankill Road?

Between Hopeton Street and Malvern Street and off Shankill Road.

Alfred went back to Dublin (he obtained his B.A. from Trinity College in 1879, according to Crockford's Clerical Directory. 1932.) and Mrs. Mitchell is at 2 Connaught Terrace in 1880.

If the property was in Alfred's name in 1877 would this mean that Robert had already died and Alfred was the 'man of the house'?

1861 Thom's Dublin Directory

Mr Mitchel, Moira Lodge, Fairview https://www.youwho.ie/mitchellshopeton.html

Mr Mitchell,  Belmont Cottage, Belmont Avenue, Donnybrook
In 1860 Mrs. Alexander Eiffe lived there.

Mrs Mitchell, Seaview Fairview

Mrs Mitchell 1 Winton Terrace, Rathgar

Mrs Mitchell, 3 Stamer Street can be ruled out (probably widow of Edward Mitchell and living with Ponsoby Shaw, esq, same address in 1862)

Eureka as the man said, I've found him.

Putting Robert M MITCHELL in Ancestry search throws up a Robert Martin MITCHELL in California.

After a bit more digging find his wife as Marie.

Found a Robert Martin MITCHELL married a Maria DYER in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia in 1862. He was 38, born Dublin and was a miner, gone there looking for gold probably. Parents named as William Henry MITCHELL and Louisa SYRETT.

Then moved to New Zealand before going to the US.

By early 1890s he is in Alameda in California, which happens to be where his son Sydney George was living.

Died in Alameda 3 Feb 1902.
