Maybe Elizabeth and her daughter Louisa Harriette moved back to her father's house in 13 Percy Place, Clapham Road, London, after Robert's death?

His eldest daughter Sarah Ann Mitchell lived in Belfast with her husband Hugh Maguire, and his youngest son Alfred Mansfield Mitchell married in Salisbury, Wilts in 1887.

When Sarah Anne married Hugh MAGUIRE in Belfast in 1870 the marriage notice in the Belfast Newsletter said she was "the eldest daughter of Robert Mitchell, late of Dublin". Her marriage registration did not say her father was deceased. If he was deceased the notice would surely say she was the daughter of the late Robert Mitchell.

If you look at the actual marriage registration then you will see that there is a line across her father's occupation. Sarah's residence was a boarding house in 1868-

Griffith's Valuation has a Robert Mitchell at 168 Rathmines Road, Haroldscross East, in 1847 and 29 Rathmines Road, Haroldscross East, in 1850.

Thom's Directory 1851-52, has Robert Mitchell, confectioner, at number 68 Rathmines Road (Fortescue Terrace).

Is there a 1853 directory of Dublin?

When searching yesterday I found details of a Robert Mitchell, confectioner, who took over the business of his father William but 'confectioner' seemed too far removed from 'government agent' and 'gentleman.' Will see if I can find my notes again.

When searching yesterday I found details of a Robert Mitchell, confectioner, who took over the business of his father William but 'confectioner' seemed too far removed from 'government agent' and 'gentleman.' Will see if I can find my notes again.

He was a confectioner after his brother's death in 1847 but his sister-in-law took over the business at 10 Grafton Street. The 'Government Agent' occupation was 20 years later. Plenty of time to change his mind

The father William left the confectionery business to his elder son George in his 1840 will, but Robert had something to do with it as well. George died in 1847 and his wife Sarah ran it after that, followed by their son.

Interestingly, in 1847 and 1849 the residence at Windy Arbour was in the name of Mrs. Mitchell!

That is the date I have for the birth of the eldest daughter, Sarah Anne, who married Hugh Maguire.
