We know that Robert Mitchell was 'late of Dublin' by the time his daughter married in 1870.
IF he's the Robert Mitchell in 1880 directory he was likely alive in 1879 (directories are often dated year after actual printing or at least detail compiled in previous year). In 1883 a William Ferguson died at the residence of his son, 36 Peveril St.
I started looking through the valuation books for the address but first entry for Peveril St. is the 1882-1897 book. It's likely included under Ormeau Road earlier.

Eyesee,

In your other thread ciderdrinker has suggested that William's wife Louisa Syrett was probably this person https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=894543.msg7689513#msg7689513

A Mrs. Sophia Whydah was mentioned in William's will (see attached snippet)

I think she could be Sophia Syrett who married Edward Whydah and had at least one daughter Mary Louisa who married William Giles Barton.

Most online family trees give her surname as Synett, but they are all based in one source

"Maiden surname Synett for Sophia Whydah based on handwritten note in Sir Edmund Barton’s papers at the National Library of Australia"

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Synett-7

Name   Mary Louisa Whydah
Gender   Female
Record Type   Baptism
Baptism Date   2 Oct 1808
Baptism Place   St George, Hanover Square, Westminster, Middlesex, England
Father   Edward Whydah
Mother   Sophia Whydah
Register Type   Bishop's Transcript
Reference Number   25063752

[Witness is clearly Robert Syrett, so no idea why they all think her surname was Synett!]

I'm not sure yet if William Giles Barton is connected to the family of George Gray Barton who married Sarah Ann Mitchell, William's sister.

Thanks PatLac

William Giles Barton was a brother to George Gray Barton who married Sarah Jane Ann Mitchell.

Not sure if Sophia Whydah would be a sister to Louisa, probably an aunt.

The Mitchells, Syretts and Bartons were all in the same area of London.

Sophia Whydah died on 14 October 1861 aged 75, so born c. 1786. If Louisa was born c. 1792 they were probably sisters or cousins. I think the couple found by ciderdrink had two daughters named Sophia, one born in 1779 who died in 1783 and the other born c. 1786, who could be Louisa's sister.

Regarding William Giles Barton...

I know George Gray Barton had a brother named William Giles Barton (parents Edward and Sarah), but according to this source the William Giles Barton who married Mary Louisa Whydah was the son of Robert Dodge Barton and Martha Farrow...

I know Elizabeth and her daughter Louisa Harriette in the 1891 census were in London at the household of her nephew Alfred Joseph Clarkson, but maybe they were just visiting?

It was actually Matilda Clarkson who was the niece and Caroline M Mansfield was Elizabeth's sister.

Couple of entries in the Registry of Deeds for Elizabeth Mitchell in 1889
Alfred J Clarkson, Caroline M Mansfield and Clapham also mentioned!

12 June 1889 (not great writing) Mitchell to Ferris

Just found Sophia SYYRT born 3 March 1787 and baptised 18 Mar 1787 at St George Hanover Square, parents Robert and Mary.

So Louisa and Sophia would be sisters.
