Eleanor Rodenby Watson b. 1902 in Blyth
« on: Saturday 01 November 25 16:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

My 2nd great grandmother Eleanor Rodenby (1859-1938) married John Blenkinsopp on the 1st February 1879 in Sunderland. They had 7 children together (2 of whom died in childhood),  and she remained married until John's demise due to Liver Cancer aged 44 in 1899.

In January 1901, whilst residing with her children at 5 Percy Street, Blyth, she married Frederick Watson (1867-?), a boilermaker and shipyard labourer from Durham. Frederick died before 1938, I think in America.

On the 10th October 1902, they had a daughter together, Eleanor Watson. Sometime in the 1900s, Frederick left Eleanor and went to America (according to family). Their daughter Eleanor Watson does not appear on the 1911 census with the rest of the family, and I cannot find any marriage or death records for her at all.

If anybody can help me find what happened to Eleanor Watson, born in 1902, the daughter of Frederick and Eleanor I would be very grateful.

Thank you,

JackB

What does the 1911 entry show re children born to the marriage - living - died?

EDIT

It shows "none" but I think Eleanor was confused with her previous marriage as she shows 32yrs married

Re 1902 Eleanor's birth reg.  It just shows her as Eleanor - not Eleanor Rodenby Watson

Hi,
Thanks for that.
I don't know why I put her middle name as Rodenby. I'll amend the post.

Sorry to question your post. How do you evidence Frederick Watson is the son of William Watson and Eleanor Proudlock.

He does not appear with mother or siblings in 1871 census

Hi,

To be honest, I've barley researched the family of Frederick Watson. There was also a Frederick James Wallgreen Watson, mmn Johnson born in 1867 in Durham, and seen as I could not find another Frederick Watson born in 1867 apart from the one born to William and Eleanor, I assumed that my Frederick was the son of William and Eleanor Proudlock.

I did not look into the censuses of the Watson family.

I'll now remove that information from the original post.

Thank you,

JackB

A copy of the marriage certificate would give you the father's name for Frederick and Eleanor

They married March quarter 1901 reg. Tynemouth, vol. 10b page 245

Off topic but John Blenkinsop/Blenkinsopp and Eleanor Roddenby/Rodenby had eight children
all registered Sunderland
Ref: GRO Index

Elizabeth Jane  1880  mmn Roddenby
George Scott 1882       same
Mary 1885                   same        death 1888 age 3
John Rodenby 1887   mmn Rodenby
Robert Henry 1890       same
Sarah 1892                  same         death reg 1896 age 3
Mary Eleanor 1895
James   1898
-----------------------

There is an Eleanor Watson death reg Sunderland 1903 age 0
OR Eleanor Watson reg. Sunderland 1905 age 2

Either would fit a digital copy £3 would answer the question - address, who reported the death etc.

Amondg, re the 2 deaths of Eleanor. There are also 2 corresponding births in Sunderland that would match
