10 Pemberton Gardens was a maternity home. There is a case at the Old Bailey regarding a child born of an unmarried mother being taken from there.

Thank you - I thought it was easier to see my response in CAPS!  Sorry!  Thank you for confirming it was a maternity home.  I'm now wondering why the birth certificate said "formerly of Regent Street".  Perhaps she was working there prior to giving birth.
