You could always try your local library, mine has free access to both Ancestry and FindMyPast, it's a cheap option.

When there are redacted names in the 1939 Register I start a new Ancestry tab and start a new Advanced search.

I Enter the surname of the Father the Maiden name of Mother and in the birth I select either 1934 or 1929 and apply a +/- 5 or 10 filter and location as the Town where the birth probably was registered.

The results will show the other children and most likely those that were redacted.

Thanks Bee&Biggles for the info ,I will decide later ,the library looks a good option  but i much prefer to do research from home .So if i went with the ancestry half price worldwide ,how do you stop them taking the full amount the year after?

That question has been asked and answered several times in the link I gave you.

There is a thread on the forum for cut price Ancestry subscriptions.

https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=832955.477

I use it every year and get Worldwide for £89.99 for a year.

The day after subscribing I cancel Auto renewal.

It is a convoluted process involving a lot of tick boxes and in the end you get an eMail confirming the Cancellation of Auto Renewal.

No eMail, the process did not complete so do it again.
