Many thanks for showing me an alternate couple, Rosie. They do appear to be a better fit for the 1839 marriage at Holy Trinity. Having said that, the Green Lane couple cannot be the one I was looking for as the age for Jane doesn't work with the birth date I have for the lady I am after. I am actually trying to trace Jane SANDERSON b. 1819.

I had thought that the 1839 marriage was a good lead because Jane's father was given as John SANDERSON, Joiner on the marriage record. This does match with the Jane I have who was born to parents John SANDERSON and Mary LLOYD baptized 19 Apr 1819 at St. Peter.

Guess I still have some thinking to do. Thanks to all of you - this is a wonderful site!

Are you sure she married ?
I found this  burial record for a Jane Sanderson 16 July 1832 age unknown ?
Address was Collingwood Street is that where the family lived ?
Burial was at St Mary's Cemetery Liverpool
Might not be her maybe some other relation but maybe worth checking

Just to show that there was more than one joiner in Liverpool named John Sanderson, this is from the 1829 Gore's Directory:

Unfortunately, you're right. The one at 49 Fontenoy St is the father of the elusive Jane.

John Sanderson of 49 Fontenoy Street seems to have been the father of John Sanderson of 10 Collingwood Street. John senior's wife was Elizabeth
See administration bond for Mary Casson (I think Elizabeth's sister), 1833, here (+ several more images)

Possible burial of John Sanderson senior, 2 Dec 1839.
Abode Fontenoy St. Age 76 years. Gives date of death.

The one at 49 Fontenoy St is the father of the elusive Jane.

John the joiner in Fontenoy Street is Jane's grandfather.

I think the Jane Smith nee Sanderson who married Edward Jones in 1839 might be the daughter of John (another joiner) and Esther Sanderson.

Yes, quite right. Getting all my Johns mixed up ::) It's been a while since I looked at this line. The John in Fontenoy St is Jane's grandfather.
I think you're right about Mary CASSON as well, as her sister Elizabeth did marry John SANDERSON in 1787. Their son John married Mary LLOYD in 1814.

I already had the births of 8 children to that couple but I did not have have the birth of Elizabeth Ann in 1830, so thanks for that one!
